Talya Tibbon

Talya Tibbon is a documentary director, producer, and writer with over two decades of international experience. Her work has aired on Netflix, Apple+, Amazon, PBS, CNN, BBC, National Geographic, Channel 4, and Smithsonian, and has been nominated for Emmy, BAFTA, and IDA awards. She has led productions across four continents, from conflict zones to corridors of power, combining journalistic rigor with cinematic craft to tell stories that are both urgent and deeply human.

Her recent directing credits include The 1% (CNN), examining the human cost of rising inequality around the globe. Earthstorm (Netflix, Emmy-nominated), on communities living on the frontlines of climate disaster; The Me You Can't See (Apple+), the global mental health series produced with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry; and Heart of Invictus (Netflix), following wounded service members competing in the Invictus Games. Her feature documentary Sky and Ground — following three generations of a Syrian family fleeing war across eight countries — was nominated for the IDA Award for Best Feature Documentary and won the Golden Eagle CINE Award. 

Before moving into documentary filmmaking, Tibbon was a  producer at CNN in New York, where  as part of the team covering  9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the Asia Tsunami earned a Peabody Award, a duPont Award, and multiple Emmys. She also served as Senior Editor at the Journal of International Affairs at Columbia University and as New York correspondent for Galei Zahal radio.

She holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and has trained in Directing and Developing TV Drama at the National Film and Television School in the UK.

Current projects include The Black Book, a feature documentary about Nazi looted art in active development, and Sinai a thriller set in the desert.
